So when I saw the Biji Barbi all those years ago I just knew it would be good and it has been excellent. I write this because at the recent 4WD Adventure Show the old faithful Biji Barbi was there yet again

The Biji Barbi is a throwback to the simple days of using a disc plough plate for a barbi plate. When I was a kid we had just such a BBQ plate and it was probably one of the best barbie plates I ever had. So when I saw the Biji Barbi all those years ago I just knew it would be good and it has been excellent. I write this because at the recent 4WD Adventure Show the old faithful Biji Barbi was there yet again.

We took the Subaru Outback 2.0D 6 Speed Manual wagon for a weekend test with a camper trailer attached to see how it performs in what may be typical conditions.

Finally Subaru has entered the diesel market. Long renowned for its fabulous boxer motors, they have applied that technology to produce the world?s first boxer diesel motor for a passenger car.  The super-efficient Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Outback 2.0D offers outstanding economy and low emissions, meeting strict EURO 5 standards and consumes just 6.4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres in the combined cycle. We hooked a camper trailer on the back and headed off.

We had 2 leading contenders in the Luxury 4WD market as a comparison test. The vehicles were a 4th generation Landcruiser Prado Kakadu 3.0-litre turbo-diesel motor with a five-speed automatic with sequential-style shifting transmission and a Landrover Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE with a ZF HP28 6-speed automatic transmission This comparison would have to be one of the most frustrating we have done. Here we are with two supremely capable 4WD vehicles and keen to video our review over very testing conditions only to be thwarted by torrential rain for days on end.  So the video was killed and the intended trail became suicidal to attempt.
